Club History

  • Carlingford Netball Club was established in 1979.
  • The Club was established to provide an opportunity for players to participate in the Hills District Netball Association based at Pennant Hills Park.
  • The Club quickly grew in numbers reflecting the strong population growth of Carlingford and its surrounding suburbs.
  • As the club grew so too did the number of volunteers required to help run it – including Committee positions, Coaches, Umpires and Team Managers
  • In 1993 the Club established its first perpetual trophy known as the Tiffany Hartnell Trophy.  Tiffany Hartnell was a young girl who died in 1991 from a severe asthma attack when she was 11.  In 1993 her family donated a perpetual trophy in memory of Tiffany, as she played as she played for the Carlingford Netball Club. The trophy is awarded every year to a 13 year old girl who has been voted for by other 13 year old girls in the club.  The recipient of the award is an individual who tries the hardest, is consistent in attendance, supportive and encouraging towards all others in the team and/or supportive of the club overall.
  • In 1995 Carlingford Netball Club became incorporated as a legal entity, with an official Constitution that was amended in 2005.
  • The first club newsletter commenced in 1999 – “The Carlo Capers” and has been in production ever since.
  • In 1999 the Club changed its uniform to a Green skirt, White shirt with light green and dark green swirls and dark green collar, white socks and black scungies.
  • In 2001 Carlingford Netball Club established its first web page – moving into the technology driven 21st Century
  • The Year 2004 marked the Clubs 25th Anniversary – and was celebrated at the annual presentation day and AGM
  • In 2005 the Club led the fashion stakes at HDNA and released a new uniform, changing to a Dark Blue Skirt with green and white trim, and a white shirt with green side panelling, white socks and black scungies.
  • The Club introduced a Sponsorship Program in in 2006 to increase funds into the Club.  The first sponsors being Motor 2000 smash repairs and Galston Service Centre, who both continued to financially support the Club over the next 8 years.  Sponsorship has continued to grow and is an opportunity of not only financially supporting our Club but also giving back to businesses in our local community.
  • Carlingford Netball introduced the club’s first electronic newsletter in 2006 – “The Carlo Capers” continues to reach our netball community but through electronic media.
  • Carlingford Netball Club continues to be on the forefront of technology and revamps its website in 2010.  It is the first Club in the Hills District Netball Association to offer online registrations and establishing both a public website and an interactive login site for Club Members.
  • In 2011 our NetSetGo! Girls entered a National competition to cheer on the Australian Diamonds who were off to compete in the World Netball Championships and they won.  The prize was a visit from Mo’onia Gerard, Australian Diamonds legend,  who joined us for our 2011 Presentation Day and AGM. This was an exciting time for the Club and provided an opportunity for all our players, volunteers and parents to meet Mo’onia and for our players to spend some time with her on the netball court.  Definitely a historical event for Carlingford Netball Club!
  • We were lucky to have Samantha May from the NSW Swifts attend our 2013 Presentation Day and AGM and award our Club trophies and certificates.
  • In 2013 the Club was successful in receiving the Telstra Kids Fund Grant and was awarded $1200 which was invested into player development programs and training equipment.
  • Additionally in 2014 Carlingford netball club was successful in receiving a grant from the NSW Sport and Recreation Department for $1500, which was used for upgrading our uniforms and continued development of player and coaching skills.
  • The Club commenced the 2015 season with a new uniform, replacing the existing skirt and top with a modern dress.  The Club fully subsidised the transition to the new uniform which was a result of grants received, community sponsorship and enthusiastic fund raising.
  • In 2015 the Club invested heavily in the development of its coaches, hosting a Foundation Coaching Clinic which was facilitated by Netball NSW.
  • The focus for 2016 was player development and the Club financially invested in this by securing the services of elite coach Nadia MacDonald who ran Coach and Team development sessions.
  • The theme of player development continued throughout the 2017 season which commenced with preseason fitness sessions facilitated by Keith Lawton from Game Changer Training and Fitness.  This was followed mid season with a shooting clinic run by Australian Diamonds player Susan Pettit.  Additional Susan Pettit school holiday clinics were also subsidised by the Club for our NetSetGo aged members.
